We are pleased to announce the addition of the 9-Dance Challenge at Sunflower Dance Festival! This is a new level of dance competition in the ACDA and we are delighted too offer this opportunity!
The 9-Dance format is danced in flights, similar to the top-level of Couples competition. The smooth flight includes Viennese Waltz, Waltz, Night Club, Triple Two, and West Coast Swing. The rhythm flight includes Two-Step, Cha-Cha, Polka, and East Coast Swing. There is no Show Dance.
The competition offers four divisions:
Pro-Am “Open” (16 years & older)
Pro-Am “Mature” (45 years & older)
Pro-Pro “Open” (16 years & older)
Pro-Pro “Mature” (45 years & older)
A Pro may enter only one student per division. Any contestant is eligible that meets the gender, age, and professional status for each division. Each partnership may enter up to nine (9) dances, but must dance at least 5 dances, including Waltz, Two Step, at least one swing, and any two of the remaining dances (Viennese Waltz, Triple Two, Polka, Cha Cha, or Night Club).
Male and female students will compete only against their own gender in each Division, but may dance in the same flights as the other gender, depending on the number of entries in each division. Scoring is by placement, not medals. Music for each dance will be from 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 minutes in length. Other rules are identical to the Superstars division according to the current ACDA rules.
